On 22nd September we were excited to hold our first ever Allotment Apple Day.
We were honoured to have Sibling Winery from Snitterfield on site. The weather didn’t dampen our spirits and we collected so many varieties of apple! Laura and Yvonne from Siblings took the apples away and will be returning them juiced next weekend!
WOW IT’S A RECORD OPEN DAY!
An amazing day, thank you to everyone that got involved.
We had approx. 500 people attend our Open day which far exceed our previous events record of 372 visitors and the weather again held out for us.
So far donations of over £2400 pounds have already been made to various charities. Including all the gate money going directly to NGS chosen beneficiaries - Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK, Parkinson's UK, The Queen's Nursing Institute and Carers Trust. Along with a large donation going to Guide dogs to support the amazing work they also do. Additionally we will also be distributing further donations to local good causes.
We could not have achieved such a great day without the army of volunteers who came forward to help setup, help on the day and help pack up. THANK YOU.
We had some fantastic feedback including “We have never seen such beautiful allotments so well kept.” “These allotments are a credit to all” “What a fantastic community spirited event, well done.” “These allotments are my idea of heaven” “ Wow I didn't know the site was so big and it is so well looked after” “I wish our allotment were like this” and this is just a summary.

Well done to all involved!
With the initial Help Out on 8th May following the King's Coronation, being a resounding success, a second Help Out Day was held during November, to aid those who through ill health struggle with their plots. It was also dual purpose in putting the allotments to bed for the winter months. All in all it was, once again, a very rewarding day, and luckily the wet forecast did not materialise.
There were 14 willing volunteer helpers taking on many jobs around the site. Community spirit was tremendous. Refreshments were served, throughout the day, in the new plot holder's Blue Shed and helpers were rewarded with unlimited tea, coffee and sumptuous cakes. In addition there was hot supply of allotment grown beetroot soup !
THE Official Opening of OSCARS Garden on August 25th at 2 - 3 pm will coincide with the broadcast of the Countryfile episode filmed at the Allotments earlier this month.
Creating OSCARS has been a fantastic community effort, involving more than 20 organisations and individuals who have donated more than 250 volunteer hours as well as the funds required to build and paint the area ready for OSCARS to start the planting and ready the site for use.
BBC Countryfile Presenter Matt Baker and the team braved a windy day in Wellesbourne last Friday 9th August, recording an episode about our local hero and MP Joseph Arch which is expected to be broadcast over the August Bank Holiday
Rob, our talented photographer in residence, has been visiting our site for the past 3 years to take images of our plot holders & their beautiful allotments, as well as our special events such as the NGS open days.
