2019 THE Official Opening of OSCARS Garden on August 25th at 2 - 3 pm will coincide with the broadcast of the BBC Countryfile episode filmed at the Allotments earlier this month with Matt Baker.
Creating OSCARS has been a fantastic community effort, involving more than 20 organisations and individuals who have donated more than 250 volunteer hours as well as the funds required to build and paint the area ready for OSCARS to start the planting and ready the site for use - see a video of the some the stages of the evolution of OSCARS below
in 2018, a plot holder suggested it would be good to have a dementia-friendly space at the site
With advise from OSCARS Chair, Heather Brown and Community Nurse, Heidi Williams we appealed for funding and volunteer support.
Chris from CM Plant Hire was the first to respond and immediately came to level the site with his digger.
Wellesbourne Allotments is not just about growing our own food. Listed by Stratford District Council as a Valued Community Asset , our site and its Allotmenteers are also a central focal point in the village. The Association makes significant contributions and donations to many local groups.
There are so many people to thank for their contribution to OSCARS Garden - here are just some: -
