In Poland, most people grow their own veg & fruit on their allotments, & it’s also popular to pick wild mushrooms & berries from the forest.

We applied for allotment especially for for my daughter, Lily & son, Adam. Plus, I love gardening, it makes me feel relaxed. We just love our plot, & we have meet so many nice & interesting people.

On the plot, Lily can look after her own pumpkin plant & Adam takes care of his courgettes. They are very excited to see them growing.

The kids are also very interested in insects & observing them, like the ants & baby ladybirds.

Homeland varieties - Recently, my brother brought me some Polish potatoes from my Father’s allotment. I don't know how are they called, they are from my Father’s village. We also have lovage plant which I brought from my fathers garden a few years ago.

We grow yellow Dwarf Bean, Dior, which is very popular in Poland, & Polish gherkins, Polan & śremskie which we bought from B&Q ! - I am going to be pickling them.

We also have grapes, raspberries, gooseberries, red, white & black currants, strawberries, framberries , cucumbers, dill, lettuce, broad beans, parsley, wild garlic, normal garlic, leek, & different kinds of tomatoes.

We have Runner Beans: Benchmaster, Tenderstar, Borlotta Lingua di Fuoco 2 and Crusader. We’ve grown them up canes in the form a tent shape - for kids to play in.

On the borders we’ve planted different kinds of flowers, hoping it will be nice & colourful and the bees will be happy’.
