in between plots 57b & 58b - the Grapevine

rebecca coates & peter maxwell

The Grape Vine is on edge of Peter Maxwell’s Plot 57B . Originally planted in 1992 by a previous plot holder, Steve Parr, who also planted a red vine too, but unfortunately that has not survived.

some lucky Plot holders remember Steve making some excellent wines from these white grapes.

When Peter inherited the grapevine in 2012 & he set about looking after them, but realising they were not reaching their full potential passed on their care to Rebecca from Plot 30B.

Rebecca has looked after these 20 year old vines for 3 years & each year is getting better at wine production.

response to climate change

who would have thought Wellesbourne has been producing it’s own white wine for over 20 years ?

Being able to grow wine grapes in the uk was one of the first signs of climate change back in the 1970’s- it isn’t a new thing - change has been gradually creeping up on us for decades
